From the grandest temples to the most humble neighborhood fields,
Ballparks are some of the most beautiful real estate in the world.
Rediscovering the historic technique of Pinhole Photography the artist has captured the classic American Ballpark in this rare and limited collection of photographic art. Photos were taken with a large format 4x5 pinhole camera and printed in three panels making them triptychs. Each photo is accompanied by notes from the artist taken from the artist’s personal journal.
Pinhole photography is a lensless technique dating back to the beginning of photographic history. The unique characteristic of lensless photography enhances the viewer’s enjoyment of these beautiful ballpark images. There is a degree of guess work and unpredictability with regards to pinhole photography which is part of its charm. You’re never entirely sure how things will turn out and that can sometimes work in the artist’s favor. Slow speeds allowed the artist to capture and create ghost like figures in the images. The black and white prints combined with these techniques give the photos a unique, timeless feel with a visual recognition that is not frequently present in conventional photography.
